Temporomandibular disorder better known as TMD is a common and often painful condition of the jaw and surrounding facial muscles originating from the temporomandibular joint better known as the TMJ. When a problem with the joint occurs the result, TMD, is a condition that can become quite painful and destructive if left untreated. A misaligned bite can be a factor in many cases. A misaligned bite can cause jaw muscles to overwork while trying to re-align teeth through clenching and grinding resulting in jaw and muscle tension in addition to damage to your teeth. Since there is a relationship between the teeth, jaw joints, head and neck muscles and head posture, a problem in any one of these areas may also affect others. These can include painful clicking or popping of the jaw joint, various types of head and neck pain, swallowing problems or sleep apnea to mention a few.

Dr. Rachel Woll offers a variety of TMD therapies that work with the teeth, muscles and joints in order to return your jaw to an optimal position to protect and preserve teeth and for the greatest symptom relief.
