Crowns

Dental crowns are used to correct a variety of dental problems including badly decayed and damaged teeth in addition to cracked teeth. The crown serves as a fixed covering that fits over the original tooth. The treatment plan for a patient receiving a dental crown requires two office visits. On the patient’s first visit, Dr. Rachel Woll will remove any decay in or around the tooth. The tooth is then re-sculptured to provide an ideal fit for the crown. An impression of your tooth is then made in order to create a custom-made crown. A temporary crown is put in place during the interim period while the custom-made crown is being created at a laboratory. When the custom-made crown is to be placed, Dr. Woll ensures that it has the proper look and fit, and then the crown is cemented into place.

Bridges

A bridge is a dental prosthetic that fills a space that a tooth previously occupied. It is made up of two dental crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and a false tooth in between. When teeth are missing, the remaining ones can change position, drifting into the surrounding space. Often times is difficult to clean crooked teeth, which may lead to tooth decay and periodontal disease. Missing teeth will also offset your bite, causing stress on certain teeth, making those teeth more susceptible to fractures and other dental problems.
